Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning

Oral health begins from the inside!

This is true not only for humans, but also for animals. If teeth and gums are well cared for and robust, from a young age, your dog can bite strongly into old age and enjoy it.

“It's estimated that by the time they are two years old, 80% of dogs begin to show signs of oral disease!”

A few questions that may help you decide if ultrasonic teeth cleaning is something that May benefit your dog:-

  • Have you noticed that your dog has bad breath?
  • Are your dog's teeth yellow/brown coloured, especially close to the gum line?
  • Does your dog have red/sore looking gums?
  • Does your dog exhibit any signs of mouth shyness?
  • Is your dog off their food or chews?

If yes then ultrasonic teeth cleaning may be just what you need!

I would just like to stress that this is not a 'magic wand' - it's a gentle and gradual method of removing tartar and bacteria from your dog's teeth and gums and may need to be used for several sessions in order to thin the tartar and bacteria enough to make it safe to flick the tartar off the teeth.

The good news is that from the very first use, the ultrasonic waves are killing the bacteria in the mouth and right under the gum line, which results in the immediate reduction, or even total elimination of bad breath!

By using ultrasonic teeth cleaning as part of a regularly scheduled grooming routine, you can help to avoid taking your dog to the vet for a professional scale and polish, which can only be achieved while under a full anaesthetic.

The ultrasonic teeth cleaning service can provide a number of benefits for your pet's dental health, including:

  • Pain-free: The toothbrush is silent and doesn't require scrubbing, so it's a gentler alternative to traditional toothbrushes.
  • Anaesthetic free: Your dog will be fully awake and aware of their surroundings. Also it may save you and your dog the nerve-wracking visit to under go surgery at the vets.
  • Effective cleaning: The ultrasonic waves penetrate deep into the gums to remove plaque and bacteria from tight spaces.
  • Reduces inflammation: The toothbrush can help reduce inflammation and prevent gum disease.
  • Improves blood flow: The toothbrush increases blood flow to the gums, which can help heal wounds and stop bleeding.
  • Reduces bad breath: The toothbrush can help reduce bad breath.

  • Reduces need for professional cleanings: Regular use of the toothbrush can help reduce the need for professional dental cleanings by a veterinarian.

How long does Emmi-Pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning sessions take?

The initial appointment will take around 1 hour to complete, and includes your dogs personal toothbrush, consultation and first clean, this also gives me adequate time to introduce your dog to the teeth cleaning process in a positive, fun and gentle way. Follow up and maintenance sessions take on average 30 minutes to complete, however each dog is different and I tailor each service to your own dog so some may require more or less time.

How quickly will I see a difference in my dog's teeth?

There is  no definitive answer to this as it depends on the condition of the teeth at the start of the treatment. If the teeth have heavier plaque deposits it may take around 6 treatments, or more to see a difference in the amount of plaque.

If your dog only has a small amount of tartar build up then you will see a visual difference much more quickly, although this depends on how frequently your bring your dog for treatment. Be assured though, from the very first use, the ultrasonic waves are killing the bacteria in the mouth, which results in the immediate reduction, or even total elimination of bad breath!

What if my dog doesn’t like it?

I will never force a dog to have the treatment if it is excessively unsettled by the procedure. Some dogs take a few sessions to learn to  accept the brush, while many are happy from day one. I will take the process at your dogs pace, this will help you build trust and confidence with me and the process.

My dog doesn’t have any tartar or plaque, is it worth them having this service?

Yes! Prevention is always better than cure. The system kills bacteria in the dog’s mouth, which is the main cause of gum problems and plaque build up. By having regular sessions, either alongside your dog's routine groom or as a stand-alone treatment, you are helping to prevent the tartar form attaching to the teeth and keeping those pearly whites clean and healthy for years to come.
